Since the early 1980s my passion has been the exploration and depiction of light. Structures and objects are stage sets for light with its transformative power and ability to affect emotions: illuminating, disclosing, concealing. Light and shadow imply the narrative and carry the emotional weight in my paintings.
There is a flimsy veil between the solidly palpable and the vast world of imagination and all that we cannot comprehend. Infinity. I have come to understand light as the connective tissue between these worlds. The way we perceive light is explainable in terms of electromagnetic radiation hitting the retina, but there's so much more. I strive to make paintings about the physical world segueing into infinity through the medium of light.
